Gamification

This course introduces students to gamification principles, focusing on how game mechanics can be applied in design contexts to increase engagement, motivation, and efficiency. Students will learn to apply game thinking to apps, platforms, and user experiences to create meaningful and engaging designs.

§ 01 By the end you can
  1. Apply core gamification principles to design engaging user experiences.
  2. Analyze and implement motivation systems using points, levels, and rewards.
  3. Develop gamified designs that balance challenge, progression, and user engagement.
  4. Create a cohesive gamified interface with clear visual hierarchy and flow.
  5. Evaluate gamified designs for usability, effectiveness, and ethical considerations.

  16. 16Final Project Development and Review

Midterm around session 8. Final project briefed at session 8 or 9 and developed in stages until the juries.

§ 03 Final project

Students will design a complete gamified app interface. The project must include a clearly defined gamification strategy, target user personas, core mechanics (points, levels, rewards), challenges or missions, and at least 12–15 fully designed screens.

All screens must follow a cohesive visual and interaction design.

The final project will be assessed based on creativity, clarity of gamification strategy, usability, visual quality, and completeness of the gamified system.
