BS AI Digital Arts vs BS TV & Film vs BS Content Creation vs BFA: which should you choose?
Choose BS AI Digital Arts & Creative Design to design, animate and produce for brands and studios; BS TV & Film Production to write, direct, shoot and edit; BS Content Creation for Digital Media to build audiences and campaigns online; and the Bachelor of Fine Arts to paint, sculpt and make prints. All four share much of their first year, so the choice is less final than it feels.
PGA runs four four-year bachelor’s degrees. They overlap more than their names suggest. The first year is largely shared: basic design, colour theory, still life and figure drawing, digital drawing and illustration, the history of design, English and media marketing. The degrees split from the second year, when you start working the way your chosen industry works.

BS AI Digital Arts & Creative Design
Choose it if you want to design, illustrate, animate or produce for brands, agencies and studios, and you like having more than one skill.
It’s the broadest of the four and the one most studios hire from. After the shared first year you move through storyboarding, typography, digital image manipulation, 2D animation, advertising and branding, printing procedures and photography, then into 3D modeling and animation, web development and electives in your specialism. AI tools are taught as part of the craft, not as a separate subject.
Leads to: graphic designer, motion designer, 3D artist, illustrator, UX/UI designer, art director, AI creative technologist.
BS TV & Film Production
Choose it if you want to make films: write them, direct them, shoot them, light them and cut them.
It shares the first-year foundation, then adds media advertising, storyboarding and animation, before the film years: non-linear editing, lighting the sets, screenplay and scriptwriting, camera and space, and the history of TV and film; then digital movie making, directing actors and media ethics; then visual effects and 3D. You work in crews that mirror a real production.
Leads to: film director, cinematographer, film editor, screenwriter, producer, colourist, media journalist.
BS Content Creation for Digital Media
Choose it if you want to build audiences: make video, write, run channels and campaigns, and use data to decide what to make next.
It’s the newest of the four and the only one with analytics, influencer marketing, website development, gamification and AI content creation built into the core. Later years add journalism, digital movie making, video for VFX and podcasting.
Leads to: content creator, social media manager, podcast producer, media planner, creative studio founder.
Bachelor of Fine Arts
Choose it if you want to make art with your hands: painting, sculpture, printmaking and miniature, and to exhibit.
The BFA keeps more studio time than any other degree: figure drawing, sculpture in clay, miniature, relief printing and etching, wood and stone carving, ceramic sculpture, portrait and landscape painting, and life-size figure modeling, alongside art criticism and cultural studies.
Leads to: painter and visual artist, sculptor, printmaker, illustrator, art and design teacher.
Five questions that decide it
- What do you make when nobody asks you to? Drawings and designs point to AI Digital Arts or the BFA; short films to TV & Film; posts and videos for an audience to Content Creation.
- Do you prefer screens or materials? The BFA is the only one centred on physical materials.
- Do you like working in crews? Film is the most team-based.
- Do numbers interest you? Content Creation is the only one that teaches you to read the data.
- Do you want the widest set of job options? AI Digital Arts is the broadest.

Start with a four-month certificate, or a one-year diploma, and see what you enjoy. Credits carry up the Level Up ladder. And because the four degrees share much of their first year, switching early usually costs little.
Whichever you choose, every course ends with a final project defended before an industry jury.
